How to Find People

What if you decide to write to a long lost friend and find out to your utter dismay that you have lost their email address? Where do you start looking for it? Theres no record of it anyway on your computer and you know for sure its not in your postal address book. You wouldnt want to lose touch with a friend because of a careless slip-up like this, would you?

In this anything-is possible day and age, it actually is possible to successfully get the information you are looking for. Well its not all that easy though. You could encounter some stumbling blocks during your search. The biggest one being the fact that there exists no single online registry featuring all email addresses old or new, working or not.

It is a near impossible task to keep a database of email addresses of every individual from every corner of the globe. This colossal task becomes even more difficult if you consider the multiple email addresses that each person may own for different reasons. You begin to wonder how to find people if there does not exist one registry keeping email address listings.

The good news is though there may not be one single place where you could obtain all email addresses; there are quite a few resources with partial listings. These resources could turn out to be pretty comprehensive and chances are you would actually find what you are looking for.

Online Phone Directories is one such resource. It is increasingly becoming a primary resource for figuring out how to find people because of the wealth of information it offers. It is not just an ordinary phone directory like so many other online resources. Besides the persons phone number, Online Phone Directories also includes additional information such as the persons residential address, office and email address. This helps you narrow the search tremendously.

Addresses.com and Switchboard.com are two other relatively large online directories with a huge database of names, email addresses and phone numbers. These websites give you the additional option of searching their database by zip or state code.

If you are trying to locate a person and know where he works or which school he attends then you could check out the company or college websites. Nowadays many universities and colleges keep a database of the contact information of all their graduate or undergraduate students. An increasing number of business organizations too maintain a database of their employee contacts. You could log on to their website and find out, step- by-step how to find people. If you encounter any difficulty, you should read the FAQs, which explain how to overcome any kind of problem you may encounter.

Strange but true, in this highly electronic world, we tend to overlook the simplest of solutions. If all you are looking for is an email address, chances are you have the other details and contact information. Well, pick up the phone and call or pick up a paper and write to the person asking for their email address.
